Heidelberg Materials UK is exploring hydrogen as a key pathway to decarbonising heavy industry. Following the world’s first hydrogen trial in cement production and the UK’s first pending trial in asphalt, the company is actively assessing hydrogen’s potential across operations. Through pilot projects, partnerships, and innovation, it aims to understand how hydrogen can support the transition to net zero—particularly where electrification is not viable due to thermal load or infrastructure constraints.
